Damn the NEW(?!?) Cineporter looks great.. It's funny to me that now we're apparetly on version 3 which is what CP-3 would imply to me due this summer!! BUT, the public hasn't seen version 1 or 2. Many of us have been waiting month to month for over a year to see any version to come..

Love the new features, thing CP-3 looks awesome, but will we ever see a product? Sorry guys.. Vaporware... Maybe I missed something and everyone is using cineporter already?

The FS-100 is here now, and for those who need a working solution it is available. And, with the pending release of firmware 3, it should become even more useful.

That said, the CinePorter is a very different type of product. Yes it's taken longer than originally anticipated, and no it's not available right now. If someone really, really wanted a CP-3 but needed something TODAY, you could always buy the FS-100 and then sell it on ebay once the CP-3 is actually on the market (and tested and such).

The current release sched for the CP-3 is sometime this Summer. Will it slip again? Maybe, who knows? But the people at Spec-Comm are working hard on it and spending a ton of money to develop it, so I certainly wouldn't go calling it "vaporware". It's just an as-yet-unreleased product.

That's what I did. Have a FS-100 for the "now" projects, and will get the CP-3 whenever it comes out.

As a person who got one of the first Firestore FS100s, I wish they had waited longer to release it. It had all kinds of issues and I spent countless hours cleaning up dropouts and fixing frame drops in at least half of my material out of the Firestore. And worse, Focus discounted my claims until enough people complained and they were forced to admit the problems. Granted, it's a decent product right now and I agree that if you must, it's available. But as soon as the CP3 is released you'll see my third Firestore (other two were replaced) on eBay in a heartbeat. In reading the threads from Spec Comm, I get the feeling that they want it to be as good a product as possible and having sold and replaced my Firestores, they know the problems a faulty product can cause.
