COVID-19 Creativity; What are you doing?

What is everyone doing during lockdown to keep the creative juices flowing?

I've knocked out a couple of charity videos and I'm doing a bit of photography in the back garden/yard. Might shoot a short in the house next week if I can convince my missus to act in it.

Nice photos Liam! I've been finishing some food pics (can't eat any of it unfortunately), doing some editing, creatively tidying up the studio and also learning by spending an hour a day watching some of the material on Adobe Live, it's important for me to have some routine. I like your night shots, going to give that a go. My photography is getting quite boring because I rarely get to just take photos for myself.

Good stuff Kubicixfactor. Funny, I was thinking about honing my table-top skills. I used to do a lot of it hundreds of years ago, not sure I have the patience anymore. And yes, give the night shots a go - just don't tell anyone how easy they are!
 
I’m busy helping bands live stream performances.
Much to learn. Getting the new Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro next week... then starts the funny business of trying to match various cameras close enough for live Multicam ;)

Good luck with that! I imagine Blackmagic have sold a lorry load of those little switchers - cool product.

Yes, the original Mini was sold out everywhere and back-ordered to hell and back. So when the Pro was announce I put in a pre-order as soon as it showed up on my resellers webpage. Thought it would be a couple of more weeks until I would see it so was pleasantly surprised to learn it’s arriving Tuesday.
 
I went ahead and got a computer. Went without one for idk, maybe 2years. Started making LUTs and brushing up on some colour pipeline workflows. Mostly for Red. Slowly designing some LUT's.

I have been showing my fiancee some basic filming and editing techniques. I shot a little shaky, handheld "BTS" video while she was shooting in our neighborhood cemetery with my old 5Diii, which hasn't been getting much use lately. That might have to change. It still offers a really nice image. Makes me wonder what we've really gained in the last seven years:


Other than that, I've been piecing together a Red One MX kit and spending too much time over on RedUser learning about that old tech.

A lot if it's compared to the highest resolution cinema cameras available. The 5D II/III image will always hold a soft spot for me, but it's extremely dated if you're comparing everything but subjectivity. Everything is mushy and falling apart...even though that's beautiful in its own way.
 
I should clarify that I'm talking about ML raw, not H264 (which is super mushy). I did a few experiments upscaling this footage to 4K. I thought it looked pretty good. Not nearly as sharp as my C200 and with clippier highlights, but maybe softer and more interesting than what I get from my C200. That's why I'm also messing around with the Red One MX. I'm still waiting on the lens mount to arrive so I haven't shot a single frame yet. But from other tests I've seen, something about the footage from that camera just looks "right" to my eye, even more so than the higher end cameras. It pulls me in and I find myself mesmerized. And now that they can be had for the price of a DSLR...

Older doesn't always look better though. I picked up an Canon XH-A1 for a hundred bucks and change a few months ago. I think I hate everything about that camera.

You want to talk about old... I have been shooting on nothing but First Generation Digital Cinema Cameras (Varicam H, F900, F23, & Genesis)... Nothing wrong with yesteryear gear, infact, I prefur it. :D

As for what i've been doing, just spending time at home with my fiance and my 4 rabbits, Playing some GTA 5 on the PS4 and learning more new things about gear i've been around for ages. Staying sane is most important. :)
