couple "new" questions, cool

I am going to dvd soon, so i need this as an mpeg2. Uncompressed avi (via Huffyuv lossless) file is 3gb but when i output as mpeg2 for Architect 24p Widescreen the file shrinks all the way down to 150mb (no sound). I have enough space on that dvd to write
30 of these files on the same disc. I am just wondering if this method of rendering looses good quality. On the desktop it looks the same but i really wish to keep everything.
Is there a setting that can do less compression?
Also i tried hooking up my tv to the video card via svideo>video connector and i don't think it works. Does it have to be a special kind of tv or can i use my 29 inch?
Thanks for peeking in.

To go to DVD, it has to be MPEG-2.  You can use a higher bitrate, but that’s not recommended.  The render default settings will be fine.  The picture will be fine.

You don’t use your video card for preview out; you run the preview out through firewire to your camera or DV deck and then from there to the TV.  Any TV with the proper inputs will work, though a professional monitor is better.
