Would one say that it would be advisable to get Contryman EMW's and B6's or should I go with Sanken COS-11's? I'm going to be using them with Sennheisser G2 100 series. Mainly controlled productions but intermittent live venues.

Also what does it mean for shelved and peaked frequency response as opposed to flat response? Can someone point me to info, thanks?

COS-11s is one of the best, if not The Best Lavalier. I have also a matched pair of DPA 4061:s, one with G2 connector. They sound really good, too. They can be also used in more ways than COS-11 but are somewhat bigger. They come with interchancable connectors, so with a right plug you can stick them into anything.

Shelved and peaked responses raise the levels of the high frequences typically starting from 3 kHz. The idea is to compensate the loss of higher frequences with a typical lavalier placement under the chin or under clothes. With DPA miniatures the effect is done with two different grids, one with longer tube gives a +10dB peaked response above 10kHz, standard grid little less so. Also some new shotguns from Shoeps and DPA have switchable shelved responses to compensate the high loss caused by a windjammer. It is better to do that at the mic level than in post, as increasing the high frequency levels in post also increases hiss.
