Countryman B3 XLR mod?

I have a B3 hardwired to XLR (B3P4FF05B), I have recently purchase a Sennheiser G2 wireless system & wanted to make an adapter for the 3.5 mm locking plug.

I thought I could add a plug to the end of the B3 wire & a jack to the end of the XLR power supply body... This way I could use it both wired & wireless.

Anybody done anything like this? I know I can contact Countryman, but I thought I'd ask here first.

I did check on the Countryman site, and the wiring diagram for the 3.5 mm plug is the same as the XLR preamp body- so I figure this should work.

(Note: I cross-posted this on the JWSound site, I hope that's okay!)

Done all the time. You can send it off to pro shops like Trew Audio or Coffey Sound and ask them to install a breakaway in the cable that fits the G2 if you prefer not to DIY. Only costs 20 bucks or so. Those wires in the cable are teensy weensy and not easy to solder so it is not the best candidate for a DIY project unless you have lots of experience soldering.

Steve- thanks for the info... I'm good at soldering, I make all my own cables & mods (including those tiny Hirose 4's). Since I bought this used, although it was only used once & looks brand new, I'll probably do the mod myself.

i see a lot of the local news stations using xlr lavs and putting xlr butt plugs on them so you could go that route. but i'd rather have it wired for a body pack myself.
