So this is my current set up and I noticed that it's very front heavy and thinking about counter weight to help balance, I was looking at zacuto's Q-release and lunchbox, but those are like $450 just for the weight which I think it's very expensive after spending $240 on their shoulder pad already... so can any of u please give me some suggestions? thanks!

Me Too...!!!

Hey...

I'm in the same boat it seems...

After the addition of a lens adapter, follow focus, and that really great (big) RR mattebox... I can't control the camera on my measley little (DV1) tripod.

I have a Universal 16FX head with a set of Miller Compact legs being refurbished, and I would think that still wont be enough support without some type of additional weight on the rear to balance things out...

I find it interesting that there aren't more posts about weight and balance with all this newer add on equipment that's available to trick out the newer and smaller cameras.

Nice rig Kwang...

Can't you just move/slide the mount point of your rails farther forward?

my pivot point is at the shoulder as I put it on my shoulder more, that's why I an looking for a good counter weight solution, I can't move the tripod plate much forward either, cinevate built their plate really low, so you can't push it through other locks ( for example my zacuto arm )

How about moving your shoulder pad to where your beachtek is located and than re-position your monitor if needed? There's nothing written in stone that says the camera has to be right beside your head.

imagine how comfortable that will be with the handle 3 inches away from ur shoulder pad. and if by doing do, the monitor has to be in front of the mattbox, which blocks my shots.........

You asked for suggestions without spending the money required for Zacuto's counter weight system. I'm just trying to saving you some cash. That being said- buying the Zacuto gear.
