Is there a countdown in final cut pro? If so can someone give me a hint

I think iMovie has one. You probably export that.

Hmmm - my version of FCP has both PAL and NTSC bars/tone and countdown under the video effects tab.

not sure about FCP 6...
But on the FCP 5 software discs there is a folder with different types of leaders in it for free.

thanks, look like fcp 6 does not have a countdown unless you use Print to video, it's beyond my understanding

There is the FCP countdown with the gray background and it says Final Cut Pro on it, it is inserted from the Edit to Tape option.

As for a countdown to put in your sequence you can find leaders as previously mentioned, its in the Extras folder of your FCP install disc. Its a simple green countdown and does not say Final Cut Pro. Various formats of the leader are included.

And of course you could make your own if you want.
