Could this computer run FCP

My parents have a G3 iMac and they are looking to upgrade so they offered to give their old one to me. I am trying to figure out if I can run FCP on it. Here are the specs:

400 MHz PowerPC G3
256 MB SDRAM ( i know i would need more of this)
Maxtor 91360U4:
Capacity: 12.68 GB
Model: Maxtor 91360U4
Macintosh HD:
Capacity: 12.68 GB
400mb/sec firewire

So that's what I have and I would appreciate any help you could give me. If I left anything out let me know.

Thanks

Thanks for responding man. So what am I missing? I looked at the specs, but I'm not the most computer savvy person. Is there anyway that I could upgrade to get it running. I saw that it requires a 350mhz G4 and I have a 400mhz G3 so is that the problem?

Re: Could this computer run FCP

Yes. The G4 has Altivec (fast number crunching, image process) and the G3 does not. It's also overall a faster, more advanced chip.
A few options:
Get a newer computer
Use iMovie for basic edit or check FCP Express requirements (they may be lighter)
Purchase an older version of FCP that runs on you machine. Make sure you get the complete license otherwise yoiu'll never be able to get upgrades or apple support.

Re: Could this computer run FCP

You need to have the AGP graphics card built into the G4 architecture. I have upgraded my G3 powermac with at G4 processor, but could only run Final Cut Express 1 (Express 2 now also requires that graphics card). I had to by another computer just so I could use FCP. My FCP 1.2 not only worked on my G3 Powermac, but on my G3 iBook as well (under OS9 of course)!
