No, hell hasn't frozen over... not yet at least.

"We're on a lot of calls with people at the highest level [of production], and they’re just nervous,” one agent tells Vulture. “They've been telling us, 'We have our movies for next year, but attendance is down, so, guys, you know what? Get us the original material. We need some original ****, because now our bosses are on us."
Hopefully this type of thinking will last for more than a week.

It will last until another sequel/remake/re-boot/happy meal tie makes big bucks. Then the ride starts all over.

Pixar doesn't count  They actually get that story matters. They have been a great example for the other studios for years. But for whatever reason, the other studios seemed to have learned that there is $$$$ in animation, but they often don't recognize that fancy colored pixels do not a great (or even profitable) film make.

For the same reason that the same people don't grasp that big explosions, huge expensive set pieces, rapid-fire epileptic editing and tight cutoffs, sans story, do not a great (or even profitable) film make.

Well, all right, if the tight cutoffs are on the right actress, I may have to allow as that Great Art is still possible. With the right framing and lighting.

But I stand by the rest of it.
