Could really use some help - thanks

I'm about to shoot a doc and I've finally decided that I will shoot anamorphic squeeze, but my question is this: do I use the default setting F5 and change the scene file to "thin" or do I just shoot in F6? Now I know the pulldown is different but I'm stuck using 1.0 (7.0) PP because of the 24p bug in 1.5. Unfortunately, I have to output to DVCam to do an HD uprez for the film festivals or I would shoot in F6 and edit in a true 24P timeline in 1.5 if there wasn't a bug.

So, finally, my question is -- if I shoot F5 "thin - squeeze" will I lose quality over F6 squeeze? and If I shoot F6 anyway can I cut it on PP 1.0 without being in a true 24p timeline and still have success. Will I lose anything? Thank you.

This is a good question. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the thin vs. thick issue without looking into some things.

But, in terms of shooting 24p vs. 24PA, you could do some tests and see if you can visibly notice the difference between the two when viewing on a standard monitor. If they look the same to you, then the difference in pulldown may not matter.

If you are never planning to print your video to film, I would say use 24p-standard. But, if you use 24PA, it will still edit fine on PPro1.0 and if Adobe ever gets their 24p working, you could always turn over and edit true24p.

are you using the squeeze mode, or the adapter. I'm not sure of your question. IF you are going through the trouble of using the adapter then make sure whatever setting your on, you are shooting thin. Shooting thick with the adapter is just like shooting letterbox or squeeze with thin, you will lose resolution.
