Cost-effective Way to Drive 4K preview monitor?

I'd like to put in a 4K TV as a preview monitor in my editing area (not overly color-accurate, think "I want to kick back and watch the edit without it being on the computer screen" or for use for client review, etc.).

The question is... how do I drive it? I'd normally use something like the Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor to go from Thunderbolt to HDMI to the TV, but the USMM doesn't support 4K. Is there something like it that does 4K out?

I use a 4K tv with davinci. Bought the cheap 4K videocard (capture card) wich works well. Works also with sony catalyst.
Works well with the nvidia 970 card
Blackmagic intensity pro card 199 dollar.

It does 4K out and 2K, and for the money you also have a capture card.

In addition to my regular computer monitor, I have a 4k monitor plugged into my graphics card, which supports 4k. . I setup the 4k monitor as my preview monitor in editing.

Not sure I'd call $1995 (AJA) or $995 (Blackmagic) "cost effective."

$1-2k seems pretty excessive for output. I don't need capture.

As for using the computer graphics card output, that would work... But isn't a true preview monitor since the color space is different.

That is why it is a good idea to post your budget in the original post. Everyone has a different idea of what is cost effective. :cheesy:

For what it's worth, we do broadcast work so a color accurate HD monitor is still the norm in my world.

Considering I mentioned I'd normally use an Ultrastudio Mini Monitor to do this and the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor is less than $150, it's a fairly safe bet that I'm not looking to spend $2000 on an in/out 4K capture solution.

I also asked if there was "something like the USMM that does 4K"... another indication that I'm not looking to spend thousands on a capture solution.

I don't do broadcast work... at least not often... so color accuracy isn't as important. I just want something to drive my nice 4K TV at native res as a preview monitor so I can back off of the computer monitor to watch the edit in all of its glory (or lack thereof).
