cost effective Chinese Wireless Follow Focus rigs - recommendations please

Anybody have any experience with Wondlan products? I know that distributors in Europe and Asia have cheaper systems that B&H wouldn't carry and perhaps for good reason, however you never know... I'm looking for a wireless follow focus rig for a steadicam rig I'm going to invest in. It's all to be for rental use for private clients. I've seen a couple of rigs with a live monitor feed strapped onto the puller's grip/receiver. Any tips or links?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Yeah I was looking at those. They don't look great to be honest. All those cheap wireless follow focus's are using servos and that's not a great idea for lenses. 2 reasons, they are twitchy and hard to control smoothly and a servo has a lot of torque. Way too much for lenses. They can rip the gears apart if you have hard stops.

Just my opinion.

What's your budget just out of interest? I'm going DIY for mine...

Well my experience with wireless on my projects are the Arri and Schneider's Chrosziel's. solid systems of course. Too much for me to own atm, but always fair with rental prices. Yeah I was looking at some demos of the Wondlan wireless on Youtube and some of the racks weren't solid. like clicking. plus, there's no way in telling for the performance including lag. I think I will get the RedRock Micro. I've seen some good review for it. I'll also probably add a Radyan wireless feed for it too. I will definitely share my results. thanks

I watched the Able Cine webinar on remote follow focus systems. They had all the biggies, not to get off topic, but the Redrock was there and it has a couple of really nice features including the ability to "calibrate" the stops of the lens with a button. It comes in at a great price. Unless I can find a used Bartech system, I'll go for the redrock too

Hey Guys,

I guess my my vote is going to be slightly skewed, but going with an accurate, latency free system that's been used by countless high end productions such as the microRemote will save you a lot of headaches on set.

The microRemote also now has the latest in wireless technology, giving you an incredibly strong signal that has a 1 mile line-of-sight range, and makes wireless interference a thing of the past.

If you guys have any questions about the microRemote, feel free to let me know.

and Demoboy, the wireless video feed tied into the focus controller could have possibly been our FieldRunner, as seen in a lot of the MoVi BTS videos.

Big thing to consider about the chinese made stuff (or really any off-brands) is how loud they are when actually in use. It may not be an issue for a music video, but if you are recording sound on-set my guess is that the Wonlan WFF is loud. I would find out about that before any further consideration.
