correcting shaky moving print

While scrolling a still image across the screen, the print appears shaky (flickering) on the NTSC monitor. I tried the flicker filter but it doesn't fix the problem. The resolution of the print is quite large, 7346 x 528. Anybody out there got any idea how to correct this?

are you working progressive or interlaced??

You may have trouble getting all those pixels to a small 720x480 project. If you have in the original picture litlle details, they would apear to flicker because FCP wont know where to place them properly, if on one field or the other....

Thanks. I'm using interlaced (standard definition). The print is very clear/sharp. It looks like a motion blur as the print scrolls across the screen...lines appear. I slowed down the motion and this helps relatively, but at original speed the lines are jumping. 'Tried blurring slightly, gaussian blur at 1 setting, but now it's all a little blurry too. Any way to get it clear and prevent the shaky stuff?

The Flicker Free filter is garbage. Use the Deinterlace filter. Try shifting the image up or down a pixel or two. There are going to be some images that NTSC just doesn't like, stripes and the like.

Aha! That seems to have helped a bit more. Still not perfect, but I guess there are limits. Thank you all!

I would resize the picture in photoshop so that it is 480 on the small side and change the pixel aspect to DV .9

FCP doesn't seem to rescale images very well.
