Correct way to export 24ap DVX footage from FCP 7 for 16:9 DVD?

Hi folks!

Thanks for the help on my other threads. Here's my situation:

- I have shot my footage in 24ap, squeeze mode
- I have correctly imported this 24ap footage into FCP 7 at 29.97fps using 2:3:3:2 pulldown, 16:9 anamorphic settings etc.
- My sequence timeline is set to 24fps
- Everything plays well and looks correct in FCP (as it should)

My question:

What is the correct way to render this 24fps footage out if I plan on running in 16:9 format that will play back correctly off a DVD to a computer or LCD TV?

I understand the conversion process from the DVX into FCP, but I don't know the process to get the footage rendered out to DVD. I am assuming that my 24fps project will need to be converted at some point back to 29.97fps for NTSC DVD the same way film is converted to video for DVD.

Best way to do this in Final Cut Pro?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Output to Quicktime with current settings- then import into Compressor and make a 16:9 24p MPEG-2 and then author in DVDSP. I go over all this in my DVX100 course btw---

Hi Noah!

We meet again. As a matter of fact I just finished watching your course (Yes, I bought it) and am in the middle of rendering video and audio for my first DVD. So far so good...

(Now burning my very first 24p DVD at 16:9)...

(Putting the DVD into my DVD player...)

IT WORKS! IT WORKS! IT WORKS!

This is a big day for me. Bigger than you know. I've been writing and editing screenplays now for almost 15 years. I've written 5 motion picture scripts, placed in a major competition, and I've helped edit about 5 other scripts... my best friend has written about 25 mp scripts. He and I have wanted to do movies since we saw Star Wars back in 1977. 6 months ago I decided to spend half my savings and try doing this. I got a Mac, DVX100b, FCS 3.0 and decided if nobody is going to buy a script from me, then I'm damn well going to make a movie myself. I've spent the better part of the last few months reading every book I can get my hands on about directing, editing, audio recording, lighting etc. My biggest hurdle was just knowing how to work the camera, but the next piece of this puzzle was how to put it all together from Camera to DVD.

This day, TODAY, I now fully understand how my DVX works, how to shoot 24ap, get it into FCP, export it, get it onto a DVD and IT WORKS!

Man, I cannot thank you enough. The sky is the limit from here.

Thanks again, Noah!

Peace.

PS: I know we aren't supposed to plug products, websites or services on this website, but I have to say that after watching Noah's DVX course he answered every single question I had about doing 24ap work with FCP and a lot of questions I would have never even known to ask. He has saved me literally weeks of trial and error and slugging through forums and websites just to try and get something on DVD in 24p and get it done right. I can't say enough about his DVX 24ap post-production course, and if a moderator reads this, I am sorry, but I am a legit customer - not a friend of Noah - and that's what I really think. I think I should put it on this website because I am sure there are other noobs out there, like me, who it might help, and isn't that the point of a forum? (Thank you.)

If you want to remove my post, I understand. (Thank you again). Peace!

Ha- thanks for the kind words. And yeah that video was my first training video ever precisely to help folks like you out because it's a big confusing thing to accomplish.
