Correct pulldown pattern on 24Pa playback control?

Please bear with me...

I am shooting 24P Advanced with the DVX100. I import on a 23.98 timeline, and my sequence settings are also set to 23.98. Set import to remove the 2:3:3:2 pulldown. No red bars on import. Everything is just fine.

I use a Panasonic PV DV203 (el cheapo) MiniDV camcorder for importing footage to save my DVX 100's tape heads. Works llike a charm.

I have hooked up a Sony Wega 13" (highly recommended, btw) to the video out of the camera so I can view my video while editing with some degree of fidelity (using composite cables — s-video or component is not an option with this cam, nor do I think it would help with a 13" non-production quality monitor.)

My question is, what should my settings be under:
System Settings > Playback Control > Pulldown pattern - ?

I have three choices:
#1 - 2:3:2:3
#2 - 2:3:3:2
#3 - 2:2:2:4

Which one should I be using? Does it matter? What are those different settings for? Is there something else I should be more concerned about?

I am preparing for a shoot whose final destination will be a 24p DVD (and of course, with the option to go to a film out when the powers that be fully recognize my genius.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

wjm,
Ok, here's the thing. You would want to set it different depending on what is going on with the video output. If you are just using it to view the footage as you edit then you want #1 on your list. This is the best quality and will provide an evenly spaced out jitter frame.
If you are going to record to your tape and want to be able to convert the footage back to 24p again, then use #2, so that you can then go back and remove that pulldown when it is recaptured. So, when you are done with your project. Change your playback settings to #2 and record it to tape with that pulldown so that it can later be removed without losing any quality.

It's kinda like the difference between the settings on the DVX. Normal 24p mode saves the video to the tape using the 2:3:2:3 pulldown because it can be used in any 29.97fps environment. But when you shoot Advanced mode it uses the 2:3:3:2 pulldown so that NLEs like FCP can remove the frames that the camera made up.

I probably could have explained that better, but it's kinda late. I hope that helps you.

So #1 to edit.
And #2 to catalog your project.

What if you are making a master dub tape of your project that will be transfered over to BetaSP and have no intentions of using that mini-DV tape you outputted to to reimport footage back into FCP? Should I pick number 1 because basically isn't that giving me a 24pN version of the film on the tape and isn't that better if I'm transfering it over to a format like BetaSP or DigiBeta?

2;3:2:3 out if you just want a image for video display, no matter what recording tape format.
This is 29.97 (so compatible with everything) but has film look becuase it started as 24fps.
