I just got My new VAIO Core duo laptop. It only has 1 GB ram, but seems to render at least 4-5 times faster in VEGAS 6 than my AMD ATHLON 2400 Based desktop with 2 GB ram!!!
 
While its not a dual core machine,

My laptop is also FAR faster than my Desktop. 3.2 gightz, 1gig ram, Hyperthreading processor, ATI 256MB x600 GPU
It is alot QUICKER than my Desktop.
 
I got the VGN-FE550G It's weird getting used to it (I'm used to my powerbook) but it's a smokin' fast machine. Soon I am gonna bump it to 2 GB RAM The %&) has a 160 GB HD, but it spins at 4200 RPM. Mine spins at 5400. The 570 also inclused bluetooth (which mine lacks)

I've been thinking of getting a laptop to run DvRack and Vegas, and have been looking at the Vaio VGN-FE550G.

aerosolcheese, overall how do you like yours? Any problems with it?

It seems like a solid machine for a decent price...anyone else have any thoughts about it?
 
Thats the same model that I have. I paid $1649 when it first came out. $1399 is a steal. This thing renders smokin' fast in Vegas. The only problem that I have with it is that the paint flaked off of one of the volume control buttons. Aside from that, it is a good machine. I'm really a Mac guy, so I know about flaking paint.
 
Or you can get a sexy dell e1505, I got my decked out.. and used a 750 off coupon.. so it was like 1250$ for a 2ghz 1gigram 60 gig 7200 rpm... you can personalize it with quicksnap covers.. blue ..all the colors of the rainbow... so sexy but not as sexy as a vaio.. but the performance rocks.. screen is 15.4
