So I'm putting some finishing touches on a webpage I'm doing and I wanted to place a couple pictures of old movie posters (Mole People, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc). None of them are photographs of the actors, just the movie art.

Now, obviously, you can find thousands of webpages where these posters are being displayed -- websites where the posters are for sale. Would it be sufficient then for me to act as a vendor of sorts, linking a page where someone can actually purchase the posters they see on my webpage? Obviously any vendor who is selling poster art is going to have a link from that art to a place where you actually purchase the art -- so this would be the identical thing.

Or am I over thinking this? Can I just slap old Universal posters on my website?

I really doubt anyone would care, and if I'm wrong the worst they would do is kindly ask you to take them down. Go for it.
