Hello to all.Once again I am having issues regarding Artist. Many years ago I took a crew to video tape two live performances of a certain performance Artist and her band.We did a Q&A with her and the band and taped and filmed two performances. The Artist / lead singer reluctantly signed a release that she added and deleated certain items.More or less she gave the right to use the footage for a documentary on performance artist.Because of the nature of the material of the video it was never marketed or used.Speed ahead 18 years. With all of the new marketing avenues available now (internet, live video streaming,Netflix,Cinemax, etc) I see great possiblites in marketing this material.I contacted the Artist/Lead Singer and she was very intrested in seeing the DVD and release agreement.I explained to her that I would like to be fair and if the video were to get picked up by a Distributor we would split the distribution agreement 50/50. I spent several hundred dollars having the 1 inch master tape transfered to Digi Beta and DVD.I had a "bug" or ghost image of my Company's name put into the DVD that came in and out every five minutes. The Artist was very excited about seeing the DVD.I sent it out to her and after several days I called her and told her that the DVD should be in the mail. She said she would get it and watch it and then call me back. She never called back.I tried calling her and she picked up the phone and when I spoke to her she hung up the phone.I left several messages asking her to at least let me know if she liked it or hated it to let me know.No response. My question to anyone out there. What should be my next step?I spent around $10,000 in crew and camera rentals, and editing on this.I have a Distribution company that I have distributed a film thru that would most likely take this piece, however this Artist is playing childish games.I would love to hear from anyone on this. Thanks,Stevenote

You may not like hearing from me or maybe I'm missing something.

If you have a signed release and the deal is done, why in the devil would you offer 50/50?
If you have solid paperwork, why do you care if they respond?

This is not a business for overly nice people ...as you just found out. Business is just that. Save the kindness for the wife and kids.

Make sure you're on firm ground and go with it.

I'm sure you read the part that the release was altered to show that the footage would only be used for a documentary that showcases Performance Artist, and not for distribution. This is why I held out a fig leaf to her and she crumpled it up.Thanks,Stevenote

Yep, I read it but it wasn't clear. It makes sense now.

I'm just wondering if I took this to a Distributor and if they want it,they would be willing to go thru the legal BS I know would come about (did I mention how much I hate Artist!!!!!) Anyone have any ideas to get this childish individual to respond to my phone calls or emails????
