Can I use this cable to copy directly from a DVD via Vegas to my external hard drive?

No. It's not an A/D converter. I can't even tell if it's a 1394 plug.

You can actually take the VOB files straight from the DVD onto Vegas's timeline. (Vegas 6)

That is, if it's not copy-protected.

Usually best to save the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive, though.

Yes, all I wanted to do was run the signal into the Vegas and capture the media to my hard drive, instead of recording it to my camcorder and then transfering it. All that I needed was the IEEE/S-Video, RCA cable. I have done this by linking my cable box and passing it through my camcorder before. Now I want to eliminate the camcorder.
