Hi.

Someone mentioned that, you can copy from P2 card straight to USB HD also...Please, could someone tell me how to do this? I couldn't find any info in the manual...

Thanks.

you can do it to a firewire(1394) drive. Just set the camera in 1394 Host mode, then do that little thing where you hold down the button on the back to put the cam into the mode. There's a much better description in Barry's book, if you have that.

I also read somewhere that you can use a USB "on the go" drive the same way, because it has a controller built in to it. In which case you would not need a PC, but I don't have one and don't know how to do it.

Yeah, this is what I was after...how to use USB "on the go" to copy P2 cards on the field...

For USB-OTG, just go to the "other functions" menu and put the "PC MODE" setting to "USB DEVICE".

Then switch to PC mode.

Then plug in your USB-OTG drive, and press its button, and it'll automatically copy off the contents of the HVX's cards.

I'm sure that this probably works...unfortunately I have never been able to make it happen. And I've tried it many many times. I can however make it happen with the OTG firewire drive and 1394 host mode.

For a USB solution, I use these all of the time. These have a rechargable battery pack inside of them.

For around $130 you get the enclosure AND 100gig drive. Like Barry said, its very simple. Firewire enclosures are scare and not that much faster on the transfer times. This is a great solution if you do not want to have a laptop.

I use these all of the time and GIVE them to my client.
