Copy and Paste in FCP

So I have this wedding ceremony I shot with three cameras, audio from the board and audio from a solid state recorder with built in mics. I get the edit done and the client asks for a few tweaks. No problem. I do a select all, copy, paste into a new timeline. I spend 2 hours making the tweaks and it sounds good. I go back and start playing the video and most of my key frames are gone. That is gone for opacity and for volume. Doesn't copy paste mean exactly that? I am running 7.0.3 Duh.

I wouldn't copy/paste, I'd duplicate the original Sequence. Copy/paste does not carry keyframes over between Sequences, only within the same Sequence. I have no clue why.

You'd have to copy/paste attributes between Sequences to duplicate those keyframes.

duplicate sequence, don't copy and paste. I don't know why the copy and paste isn't better, but it sucks. I have to constantly re-render stuff if I have to move it to a different timeline and I hate it.

Because render files match to the Sequence, not the Master Clips. It's how composites and such are tracked.

ahh, that makes sense. I never actually thought about, I just swore loudly whenever I had a modified file that I wanted to move into a different timeline. ahah.
