cooling?

I have recently built a 3ghz editing box. Last night I noticed it was running way hot. I was rendering an hours worth of footage, which was taking about two hours. The heat I felt in the fan exhaust concerned me so I pulled off the side door to the box and discovered that some of the pci cards were to hot to touch comfortably. I shut the machine down and started to work out a plan for more cooling. Is it normal for the newer faster cpu' s to run this hot? Or am I right in thinking I need more airflow? How are you people handleing your cooling? Any ideas.

I have six fans in the box and two in the power source. I also have the box out in the open. The CPU fan is a Thermaltake Tornado.

Thanks David...Guess I'll need a new case as this one can only hold three fans. I had the idea of running without the side door and placing one of those square house fans right at the guts of the thing as the heat was intense!

I have two right over the PCI/AGP slots. One on top; one on the side; two in front (over the hard drives).

Thanks so much for input David...I have duplicated your setup and running cool as a mountain steam now

Cheers

The faster the CPU the hotter it becomes... I usually poke holes in it so it can breath. I've heard people talking about putting a colling water system in their computers.
