Alright, this is by far one of the coolest techie things I've seen in a while, and maybe I'm just stupid but I think it's a ridiculously neat (and potentially useful) idea.
The homepage: veilinteractive.com
The idea:
Basically, they take the even, and odd fields of a video signal, and embed digital (1/0) information in the BLANK spaces that the viewer never sees.
Then the device (toy/laptop/pda) which is pointed at the TV show/movie/whatever, picks up that information, and does stuff with it. They have a toy batmobile that revs its engine when the batmobile on the cartoon revs its engine. They have a gameshow that allows people at home to play along. So forth, so on.
Does anyone else think this is just nastily cool? And (more importantly) can anyone think of a way to do this without having to pay (what I can only assume is an exorbitant) fee to license the technology?
Just thinkin' out loud.
