I know a lot of people have complained about Lacie Hard drives in the past, I personally haven't had any experience with them. The one thing that's been keeping me thinking about the HVX or other HD cam's has been how I would be best suited for capturing and then viewing on an hd monitor.
I came across this which product from Lacie which is basically a hard drive with the added abilitiy to output certain files in sd or hd format if properly inputed into the unit. for the price it maybe a solution in the meantime of the whole Blue-ray/ hd disc debate.
Although it' is boasting the DIVX format it seems to be compatable with many others.
