Cool-Lux SL3000 Camera Light

Has anyone used this light? I need to make my decision before next weekend's shoot. I'll be using it for event videography, interviews, low light situations with the DVX100a. Anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks!

I have not used it but it looks pretty nice. My only thought is the size. I use a NRG resources (dimmable) and love it. I just need to find a way to put a little scrim in front of it to soften it.

SL3000 is a really nice soft light, a bit bulky, and you have to get a battery belt, but it makes pretty light.

dsk, what model do you use? some NRG's have prefab scrims...

Thanks Rush,
I spoke with you on the phone the other day. I did end up going with the Pag C6 - just in time for the gig tomorrow! I like the light, but the battery is the size of a brick, and not much lighter. I'm trying to think of ways to suspend it on the tripod.

Regards,

Brad

DSK,
What batt are you using for your NRG light? Also, where did you get it?

You can also use heavy-duty velcro and attach it to the side of the legs. Even though it's a little heavy, it's still lighter than a battery belt ;D and that makes it easier to mount it to the tripod without much grief. One last way is to roll the shoulder strap around the ball screw, if your tripod has one, and let the battery hang in the middle of the tripod. Hope that helps.
