CONVERTING TO UNCOMPRESSED .AVI

Is this a necessary move to avoid further artifacts from rendering? I realize with miniDV it will be highly compressed. I was thinking of taking my DVX 24pa captured footage, picking the takes I need, and then converting them before any rendering. Does this make sense? Will this help avoid any other compression artifacts? I have a external hard drive specifically to edit this 10 minute short. Thanks. Best- Mike

AVI is not as good a format as QT. There is generally no need to try to convert to uncompressed from DV unless you want to include high quality keys or graphics.
