Converting to DVD in Edius

I just did some training video for a local FD and they want it on DVD. I shot in 720p and tried put in on DVD and to be honest it looks like ****. I have never tried to put something on DVD after editing in Edius, i`m sure i down converted wrong or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As suggested by the previous poster, there are many ways to skin a cat . . .
I'm using Edius Broadcast v.6 (have been using Edius since version 3). I also, on occasion, use Premier CS5 and/or the current version of Avid M/C.
Anyhow: I shot HD most of the day today with my AF100 then cut it in Edius Broadcast.

The result (on my 40" Sony flat screen) was awesome -- looked nearly as good as BD.

Bottom line is, if it looks great on your timeline then there is no reason it shouldn't look pretty good when you burn to DVD.
All I did was to export the timeline as an MPEG2 Elementry Stream and burned it to DVD with Roxio's DVDit Pro.

Your exported files should work with Encore or whatever you might be using as burning software.

Looking back I'd made a lot of mistakes over time looking for elegant workflows while ignoring the obvious, more simple ones.
That, and doing goofy stuff like shooting at one frame rate or format and editing in another--but that's just me.

Best.

The consensus over on the Edius forums is TMPG4 is the way to go using the standard SD DVD template. I "print" the timeline whether it be 1080i or 720p out to a canopus HQ "fine" file. I then encode the HQ file with TMPG4 and have had excellent results with razor sharp graphics. I use the following settings for 1 hour long replicated or duplicated discs.
CBR = 8250
Audio bitrate = 320 dolby digital
Encode mode = Prioritize quality
DC componet percission - 10 bit
Display mode = interlaced
Motion search percission = highest with error detection

Hope this helps. I spent about a week testing various encoding software before I selected TMPG4.

I found that Anton on the Canopus forum had a go way of down converting usesing VirtualDUB and seem to get very good results Marks way is also very good amd the Tmpg5 is now avable and works great .

I am trying to export my HD timeline to Disc, however I get a 9 minute sequence instead of my 95 minutes timeline, do you know why it's doing that?
