Converting mono to stereo.

I have some footage that i shot with my DVX and my me66 mike. How do I go about copying the sound from the left channel to right channel to get a stereo mix in Vegas 6?

I would think it is cooler if you pan the mono file in the stereo track instead of just duplicate the file.

I think the easiest way to create a "stereo" file (in Vegas 6) is to simply right click on the audio track. Select Channels and then Combine. After rendering the file it will become a true stereo file. To verify it is now a stereo file simply reopen the file in Vegas, right click the audio file, select properties, then media. Under Stream Properties and Attributes, the file type is identified, and should be listed as a stereo file.

Of course you probably already know that copying a mono file to both channels of a stereo file will not make it stereo. To have a true stereo file you would have different material on each channel. Putting a copy of the left on the right is still mono.

I’m with MovieSwede’s suggestion - just pan the sound till it seems (and meters) center, adjust the overall volume, and then render the audio. You should be good to go.
