Converting a project from DV NTSC 23:98 to DV NTSC Anamorphic 23:98

Ok same project here...

We have a mixture of;

- 24AP 4:3 (mostly)
- 24AP 16:9 Squeeze (about a quater)
- 24P 4:3 (shot by mistake)

We are working in a 4:3 23:98 timeline. So far I haven't come across the alleged 24p clips or haven't noticed a problem but i'm sure it will be at some point. We have a 16:9 matte sequence dropped over the project to give a guideline and the squeeze clips just have a letterbox in this timeline.

Now I want to bring the whole thing into an anamorphic timeline to bring it up a step.
When I copy the clips into the new sequence it pillarboxes the 4:3 clips (which I manually zoom to fit) but the squeeze clips are squeezed again making them looked squashed. So at the moment I'm copying in parts of the sequence bit by bit, and replacing the squeeze clips by writing down in/out points and pulling the footage in fresh.

Is there an easier way to do this? or no....

The one advantage to doing it manually like this, is that the project is a total mess because a non-editor has been editing, so it gives me a chance to make it more clean and break down the castles he's been building with 20 million channels.
