Converting a PAL 25p h.264 for 24p NTSC DVD playback.

So I've got an h.264 file, 25p, PAL, 1920x1080 resolution. I can't figure out how to convert it correctly and get it on an NTSC DVD.

Anybody have experience with this?

The main problem is that when I use compressor to convert it to NTSC it "jumps" a little bit every second or so on playback. The other problem is that the blacks look really blocky and crappy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had all sorts of trouble with this. My project was 50i to 24p, but it is similar. The only relatively perfect way to do I have found is using compressor with the highest quality framerate conversion set. This can take a LONG time depending on the length of your project.
Our deadline was too soon so we ended up sending it off to a post house who used a snell and wilcox Alchemist to do the job.

Another way to do this is to conform your 25p to 24p in compresso, however with this method, you sound is lowered in pitch by 4%. Some people say you can't hear it, but I can. Not acceptable.
