Converting 5D MKII mov to ProRes PROBLEM!

Anyone else experience this.
I put my clip in Mpeg streamclip or Compressor & convert
to prores 422 & my video outputs darker.

If I convert to XDCAM or something else, it's fine.
What gives?

I always convert to XDCAM and edit that way with my 5D2 footage. Why don't you just edit in that? ProRes takes up a lot of space!

Which one do you use XDCAM 1080p 30 1980x1080 (unscaled)? & is the check mark on or off for interlaced scaling? I want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Thanks,
AP

Composer supports converting videos to prores, but the color seems darker than original file. So if you transcode to ProRes with Compressor, please make sure the following instructions are done:
a) gamma correction is on
b) gamma output on save file is set
c) YOUR screen is set up correctly for gamma

I have even converted Canon 5D MOV to Prores, unforturnally i can't even import it to Composer . I just found another tool Aunsoft Video Converter for mac to do convert it. But the color also seems darker, and finally i found a effect function in editor to adjust the brightness. I have not tried Mpeg streamclip yet, but i heard that mpeg streamclip makes a better performance than Composer.

Which ProRes are you using? If your worried about eating up space use the ProRes Proxy codec. I tend to use LT for most projects and have used HQ a couple times. I've only used the 5D once on a music video set and I didn't notice the footage looking darker after the conversion with MPEG Streamclip. Are you sliding the quality slider all the way up to 100? FYI, there are some videos on youtube if you search "how to use mpeg streamclip" or something close to that. Perhaps you might have something off or maybe you have something on that should be off...who knows.

Here is one of the videos I used to set up Mpeg Streamclip the first time I used it:

Prores always seems to darken shots. All the footage from my Nikon's, when converted, get a bit darker.

Use Canon's E1 plugin for FCP's Log & Transfer. Made by Canon, hello? No gamma shift, timecode, metadata, v1.2 now does not require full card file structure, as fast as anything else on the market. Always use ProRes LT for DSLR footage, HQ will not do any better withnthe footage, and can introduce headaches. LT handles specs way beyond what DSLR's are recording.
