I got my Vegas in the mail after staring at Adobe like on of those 3D paintings for about three months and then deciding that that part of my brain just doesn't think too good. So I get my Vegas, watch the tutorial, and immediately go to disable Norton antiviris. But Norton doesn't show you how to disable. It must be hidden somewhere in there because they don't want people disabling their product. Could somebody tell me how to disable this corporate piece of chit so I can take things to the next level? Sorry, drank some wine and wanted to write. Plus now I'm one of the guys. Vegas Baby! Vegas!

Uninstall?--LOL--
Norton wont get anywhere near my new system. Spysweeper doesnt give me any issues and it finds things that Norton doesnt. On the other hand, Spysweeper hasnt once found anything since I went with FireFox!!. Still have it for piece of mind though.

I wasn't kidding. Norton has nothing I want to have installed.

Agreed. All it ever did was slow down my system while it let every virus known to man infect it.

I picked up the Zone Alarm security suite and haven't had a problem since.

I didn't find McAfee utterly ridiculous, and it doesn't nag you anywhere near as much as Norton, but I still keep any such programs off my editing machine.

I have been using AVG's free version (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1) for quite some time now, and on several computers, and have been very happy with it. It doesn't seem to slow down my system at all (like Norton always did) and I haven't been infected in that whole time (that is of particular interest since I installed it on some family members computers who were always riddled with viruses and spyware, yet now no longer get any).

I switched last year from Norton to McAfee. Got my system performance back, and have had no problems. The settings allowed me to turn off a lot of the background operations but still keep the firewall, updates, and routine system scanning. Works well even on my DAW and Vegas systems...oh, and as a Comcast customer, it was free :)

Same here on AVG free. Luv it. Run it on all my machines. Never interfered with my applications including Vegas. And it's free!
