Convert Mov to WMV

I'm on a Mac using FCP. I need to convert Quicktime Mov files to Windows Media WMV video. What is the best software to do that? Free hopefully.

I tried using FCP to make the WMV from the timeline, but it only gives me 29 seconds.

I don't know of a free solution unfortunately, Flip4Mac has the WMV Studio which lets you export, and WMV Studio Pro which gives you more control.

If you have Adobe Creative Suite by any chance though, you have WMV exporting capability from Adobe Media Encoder.
 
I am a F4M user - gets the job done, but has A LOT to be desired. Audio looses sync on some batches, its generally more dirty even at 20% extra bandwidth than an H.264 mov.

Let me know if you find a better alternative that isn't in the Sorensen Squeeze or Episode price bracket.

thanks guys. I have Adobe Media Encoder CS4, but I don't see where I can export to WMV.

To get good results with Windows Media on the Windows Platform you have to set a few registry Keys to enable a higher quality encode mode (Mostly B-frames and intra-prediction)

There's an easy tool called WMV9 Power Tool you can check out to change those settings. All you really have to worry about is the Compression Optimization Preset. Turning that to High quality gets you within 5% of h.264 (According to Microsoft's claims)
