convert HD 16:9 to a SD 4:3 AVI file

I have a project on my FCP timeline which is shot in AVC-I-100 720/50p. Now I want to export it as a SD (DV25, pal) 4:3 AVI file. If I do this with file/export/using quicktime conversion/AVI (and choose 4:3, DC pal in the settings) I get on my 24" HD I-mac screen an image which is streched vertical a little. How can I prevent this (conversion of square pixels to non square pixels goes somewhere wrong during conversion). I could not find an export setting to prevent vertical strech. Can someone give me a hint how to solve this problem in FCP ????? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you specify the preference 'letterbox', not crop, not squeeze. When FCP or Quicktime or Compressor converts the 16:9 to 4:3, it needs to know how you want to treat the format change.
