Hello,
I have un tape recorder, I'd like to connect its output to my Apple Mac G5 and convert this sound into AIFF or WAV for Final Cut Pro. How to process that ?
Thank you

the cheapest solution would be to plug it into the 3.5mm
(probably need an rca to 3.5mm adapter) audio input on the G5 and you can use soundtrack pro if you have FCS or garageband and even quicktime to record the audio .

Have to say I love the "analogic", sounds like some new CPU design.
Matt gave you the simplest. What I have been doing is to connect the analog tape deck to a flash recorder and digitize that way then just do a file transfer to the Mac. The up side is your computer isn't tied up the whole time. If you don't have a digital recorder then the above is a good route. You will get a somewhat improved sound i you get a better audio interface than the built in one, but it might not be enough of a difference to be worth buying an interface.

Thanks Matt and Noiz.
Both solutions are good. The response of Noiz reminds me that I can use my Sony DVCAM DSR11 for that purpose : The output of the Analogic tape recorder (Nagra) to the Audio input of the DSR 11, and i connect to the Mac via FireWire cable.
Best regards.
