Hi there,
This forum's always been a godsend for advice, so I'm hoping some super genius out there might be able to help me?
I've just finished a short film project that's been shot on a 5D Mark II and edited on a 25p timeline. The film's on its way to various festivals, so I've created PAL DVDS by bring the finished film onto DV Pal timelines and adding a small amount of sharpening to balance out the move from HD to SD a little.
Now, I also need NTSC DVDs. Here's the problem...
I've created an NTSC DV timeline, brought in my 1080HD 25p project - scaled to 46% , and it looks and plays fine, but I know that I should be expecting to re-time the sound, should be having sync issues etc. and have a read a little about 3:2 pull down which all seems super confusing.
I'm editing in Premiere CS5.5. Am I doing things right? Am I losing quality somewhere but not realizing? And worst of all, will I send this DVD looking fine at this end, to have problems when playing on an NTSC DVD player? Does anyone know a good way I can test the DVD (as I'm stuck in PAL land where all players will play PAL and NTSC without issue)?
I'm planning on (as I did with the PAL DVD), exporting Mpeg2-DVD files then bringing them into encore to be written. I did a lot of reading into the various other methods, but this seems like a good balance of time, control and quality (I heard that the CS5.5 render quality was much better than its been in the past.)
Thanks again for your time, I appreciate the effort that anyone goes to to answering this !!!!!
