I saw this yesterday and it blew me away. The Odyssey7 at $1295 can be used as a monitor only and add the codecs and SSD drives later. Its all one piece so you just add the drives. It will also record 4K from the Sony FS700. Also a new concept rentable codecs. ARRIRAW can be rented for a term. Prices for codecs and SSD drives will be released in may.
I did a interview and write up on my blog.

I asked but they are releasing final prices in May. Even if it cost $1K for basic codecs and a SSD its still a very good deal. OLED monitors alone are $2500 and the Odyssey7 does 4K. Crazy right? If I had a FS700 this would be a good fit for 4K acquisition. Much less than a Sony solution.

At one pont you have it wrong.
The 7 is 1295 and the Q is the more expensive one.
Anyway nice overview of a very interesting product, thanks!

You can get OLED's for a lot less than $2500....but you can't get a 7.7" monitor OLED, IPS or any other monitor type at 1280 x 800 resolution with the option of converting that monitor into a 2K or 4K recorder along with being able to display and record four seperate camera signals at the same time...LOL

That is very impressive IMO

Should be interesting to see where the CODEC prices end up. Very cool product with great potential

Great write up Erik. I love the size of that monitor. My TVLogic 5.6 feels a little small sometimes.
