Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ Hand On Review

Mitch, with all your touting in video posts of your robust power connector for its ruggedness and professionalism, you certainly didn't transfer that philosophy to the mini-HDMI input on the side of the 7Q+.

That flimsy adapter included with the kit busted in the first two hours. You should have included a couple a dozen of those adapters for starters. A right angle adapter to get the wire heading toward the back instead of sticking out the side like an oar on a boat would have been an improvement.

If your are touting professional quality, you should have designed and included an input protector as seen for the outputs on the sony A7s.

That's a good find, Erik, several desirable attributes in one package that I wouldn't bet was available to buy. If it had a right angle mini HDMI, with its male connector orientated so it took the cable to the back side, I would really be sleeping nicely tonite.

Might want to check into the Atomos cables. They are right angled but not sure if the orientation of the angle will send the cable backwards or forwards. I know B&H has them. Not convinced the right angle connector will solve your problem. You will still have torque on the connector unless you isolate it completely with gaffer tape and/or a physical shield of some sort.

I really dislike HDMI connectors between devices on camera packages.

Thanks Andrew. I planned on taping the connector down to the sides of the Odyssey. While I can exercise due care of my equipment while it is in my hands, too often you have to hand equipment off to someone less knowledgeable, so things have to be rigged for that.

Contact CD immediately, they have an 'urgent' support category that's worked well for me in the past.
