Control the HXV via RF?

From what I can tell by reading the user manual, the remote control for the HVX is IR only. Is there a 3rd party device I can use to control the camera via RF? I really only need to start and stop the camera, but a zoom control would be nice as well. Is this possible?

Don't know of any RF record/zoom controllers, but I guess someone could develop one that had a transmitter/receiver combo. Nobody has done so yet though, that I know of.

Does it have to be wireless? You can get a VariZoom that lets you control start/stop and zoom, and you can get awfully long extension cables; don't know of any RF solution though.

I suppose it doesn't sticktly have to be wireless, but it would make my life much easier. I'm planning on filming a series of instructional DVDs, in which I'll be both the cameraman and the instructor. So it would be much easier if I could control the camera from across the room without having to leave my "set." If the remote was RF, I could hide it in my pocket, and control the camera without having to keep the control off screen.

I suppose I could use the IR one as well, but I'd have to edit out the footage of me pointing the remote at the camera at the end of each shot. With an RF control, I could stop recording without detection.

The best solution, of course, would simply be to hire a cameraman. But that wouldn't be as fun. :)

yeah but you'd probably have to edit out sticking your hand in your pocket as well . . . unless that's part of the training (a little humor here).
