Contour Design ShuttlePRO?

I have the ShuttlePro v2 - have had it for about 4 years. I can count on one hand the number of times I have used it. Keyboard shortcuts work just as well for me. It isnt the great revelation I hoped it would be.

me too. i was so happy when i bought and i thought it would save so much time. but actually keyboard shortcuts have totally rendered it useless.

yep, the thing is great - you may want to reassign the buttons to some features more useful to you (i never use the pickup / drop so i made those defaults do something else)

I move between a lot of different pieces of software with different shortcut keys (ProTools especially seems to use very different shortcuts from others). The ShuttlePro allows me to make my own "standard" environment that works in all the software I use. The jog/shuttle capabiliy is especially useful in FCP.

I love mine. Had it for about six months. It works for me as I edit with two hands. One on the Shuttle and the other on the keyboard. When I edit on my other machine without it, I feel like an amputee. If I'm going to do any substantial editing on that other box, I'll move it over.

One other thing. I jump back and forth between PP and After Effects a bunch and the Shuttle commonizes how the functions work between the two products. For example, to advance one frame in PP, it's right cursor arrow. In AE, it's something like stand on your head, hold your nose and say, "icky, icky, icky". This is one of my long standing peeves with Adobe applications. There is not enough time in my life to re-map a keyboard. The Shuttle eliminates the need to do that.

I just got it I had to download the latest driver for Premiere CS3, but it now works great! The shuttle wheel alone is worth having. Now I have to learn the button setup.

Many thanks for the feedback!

Dan.

Out of the box, it's just a glorified jog shuttle, but after reprogramming the buttons to my work style, it's become a significant productivity enhancer. Highly recommended!
