Contax Zeiss lenses on LEX?

Hey all,

Anyone know how to use Contax Zeiss lenses on a Letus Extreme/ EX-1?

Apparently these lenses are equal in performance to the new Zeiss ZF lenses except they are used lenses for less cash? Thanks.
 
Thanks guys... Im getting conflicting responses though.

Is it m42 mount OR canon EOS mount?

Are these Contax Zeiss lenses really as good as the new zf zeiss?
 
I second that - m42 is a screw mount and `Contax/Yashica is a bayonet mount similar to Nikon, etc. The newer Zeiss primes also come in M42 mount and are called ZS. Maybe that's the source of the confusion.

Unfortunately, the Eos from Letus is of poor quality and has a lot of play in it. We need to lobby those guys to produce/source a better mount.

I haven't seen any direct comparisons between the older Contax and the new ZF lenses, but the optics are almost identical. The ZF would have a newer formulation of the T* coatings though. I would actually prefer the Contax lenses in general because there's a much wider range of optics and they focus in the correct direction compared to Cine lenses. Much cheaper too.
 
You can get by with one EOS>C/Y adapter, but it propably adds ~20 sec to your lens changes. Considering the price I'd recommend one for each lens.

BTW, I have 1 video shot with a C/Y mount Zeiss 50 f/1.4 on my Vimeo - link in sig.

Same experience with my contax zeisses...
But the lenses are great.

Come on Letus...
Make a (good) c/y mount!
or at least a good eos mount...

btw M42 is not the same as c/y (contax yashica mount)

i might've lucked out on the E0S mounts for my LEX, it has absolutely no play in it, I was a little paranoid when I tried it on one of my friend's E0S mount that had a LOT of play in it, but yea. im happy. just got my 25 f/2.8 50 f/1.4 & 85 f/1.4 zeiss lenses

So you saying the're different quality eos-Letus-mounts?

When did you get yours?

actually i just sent an email to letus last week, they stated that they will start milling their own mounts pretty soon and should start being available in 4 weeks.
 
I hope it's available before then. My mount is pretty much unusable as it is. The lens sags and the image jumps when I pull focus. Yuck.

But I recently bought a Zeiss/Contax 28-85mm zoom. It's a bit slow at 3.5-4 but really nice otherwise. It actually breathes VERY little- very surprising for a push-pull zoom.
