I run a small production company that do a lot of corporate work, most of the time I'm a one man Band, sometimes I hire depends of the complexity of the project an audio guy, camera assistance, second camera or a photographer I charged companies about 20% on top of what I pay them .

Recently a company that give some good projects asked me the contact information of one of the phototographers I used with them the last time. Apparently they need him for an event next week nothing related to video this time. I have a lot of mix feeling about this request.

What do you guys think about this? Not sure if i should ignore this request or simply be honest. In the other side I dont think I own this guy but I was the one that introduce it to them. Feel really weird

They may not hire you again if you blow them off, I see your point though, it is a bit tacky, but maybe they feel your relationship is good enough that you wouldn't mind. I mean, it's not to hard to find a photographer these days regardless. Or you can say he works for you, and it will have to be contracted through you. or just tell your friend to tack on 20%.

On the flip side of this, if I was the photographer I'd feel obligated to run it by you before accepting any work. I've been approached by clients when working through an ad agency and have always simply told the client that I work through the agency and they can always request me through them.
If photography is something that you don't handle, and your photographer doesn't do video, then there might not be any harm in connecting them or better yet just running the photo job through your company. Hire that photographer for the job so the client gets the person they want, but keep the 20% for overhead, or split it with the photog.

Really apreciate the replies, Andrius you opening a good point, this photographer do some video works as well, it not his main thing but he do some
