Consumer HD TV

OK, so I'm in the market for an HD Television and I'm a little ashamed to say that I'm a little lost. Not sure on the best technologies these days Plasma, LED, LCD and the benfits of each. I've seen television that make films look like 50i almost which I would like to avoid. I believe that ones that are 120hz have that effect. I would like something that has good color fidelity, doesn't have tons of digital sharpening. Not expecting production monitor quality but I want something that I can watch my HD videos on before I send off to a client to make sure it looks good on a typical decent quality HD TV. 3D not wanted.

Forget about budget for now, what are some of the best options on the consumer market these days?

I like LED DLP screens. Inexpensive and some of them make a really great image (I have a Samsung 67", but that model line has been discontinued and I don't know anything about the new ones). But...you'll definitely need a darker room in which to watch 'em.

Depends upon the particular processing of the unit in question. I was knocked off my couch by the absolutely film-like image off the 'Blade Runner' blu-ray with the Samsung properly configured. And I have seen plasmas (probably poorly-adjusted ones, or just low-end in the class) whose image was grating to see. I think the biggest across-the-board advantages accruing to plasmas are their brightness and contrast.
