So has there been any winners at Sundance or Cannes or any other festivals that have won suing a 1 1/6" CCD camera?

I don't know about awards success, but as far as box office succes, wasn't Blair Witch shot partially on a small format consumer cam?

Hi-8, but probably 1/4" or so.

Tarnation (2003) was filmed on Hi-8 and VHS cameras. Made waves at Cannes and Sundance. $218 spent on tapes and edited on iMovie.
