Ok so this is about as far o/t as you can get but I have to ask:

Anyone else notice that there are a lot of references to major disease outbreaks in both TV shows, commercials and on the news these days? It started with the Hades Factor miniseries in the spring. Now both Grey's Anatomy and House feature different versions of the black plague. and other shows are also featuring various stories around the theme "massive medical outbreak that is somehow contained due to modern technology". There are commercials about influenza vaccines where the voiceover states that it could "prevent a worldwide pandemic" and newscasts are frequently talking about possible outbreaks.

Just to light a fire under people's paranoia: Is this just based on the general sensation of insecurity and fear in the American population following 9/11 or did the US military accidentally sell/lose/misplace/release some nasty virus or bacteria?

By the way I'm not the type to believe in all kinds of conspiracy theories. I do for instance believe that the Americans landed on the moon (physics and the mountain of evidence says they did) and I don't think the Twin Towers were brought down by a controlled demolition (again, physics and a mountain of evidence say they fell because of the planes). If you ask whether the George Dubbelyahh and his buddies had something to do with it or ignored intel to help them on the other hand.....
