... why isn't anyone looking into firmware hacking the FS cameras.
Couldn't we get a bit more out of both of them?

I'm betting that people are kinda scared to damage them considering the expense. I'm sure if you gave a hacker one of these cameras for free, they would go all out.
Same goes for a lot of other cameras, like the 1DC for example, imagine getting something better than 8bit 422 out of it?
