Need help.....
I want to monitor the project I'm editing on the Mac G5 Final Cut Pro HD application.... The FCP manual says I can view on an NTSC monitor through a camcorder.... But I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here...

I've caputured the footage in FCP... now I want to see the images on my NTSC monitor.. Here's my set up...
Firewire connected to Mac G5 computer.... RCA audio and video cables connected from DVX100a to NTSC monitor.... I see the tape on the monitor, but not what I've captured in the computer...

What am I missing here?
Thanks..
Jeff

Try View -> External Video -> All Frames
If that doesn't work, mess around with other options for A/V output in the View Menu.

FCP and using DVX100a for NTSC monitor connect

FCP and using DVX100a for NTSC monitor connect

Thanks... WORKS!

View>external video > all frames
View>video playback>apple FireWire
View>audio playback>FireWire DV

I'm getting a "hum" in the audio when playing the timeline and viewing on the NTSC monitor. I assume this will go away when I master the project to tape or DVD. Any way to eliminate the "hum" now?

And the video doesn't look as crisp along edges, such as flag poles. The edges of the poles look squiggly. Again, will this diasappear in the final product?

Make sure you have good cables (ideally short), especially from camcorder to monitor. Be sure monitor is plugged in with grounded plug.

Also,

Make sure you are not plugging your Mac, NTSC monitor, and DVX into outlets (wall plugs) that are on different circuits in the house. That will possibly cause a ground loop hum. Plug them all into the same power source.
