connecting TV to G5 for FCP editing

hope this isnt a stupid question but I fear it may be I have been trying to connect an external Televsion set to my G5. I recently bought a DVI to video adapter but found out that if I use it I have to disconnect my monitor. The second port is round and my adapter is square, thus it will not connect. How can I have my monitor connected and my external T.V. or broadcast monitor for editing situations? Am I missing a piece that goes into the second port? Sorry if this is so basic.

For external NTSC viewing you must go through your deck (or camera). Nice and easy.

i have na external monitor hooked up to my G5. what you need to do is get another adapter that is ADC to DVI and hook up your apple monitor to that through the second ADC connection on the back of the tower. Then hook up the DVI to Video connector to the DVI output and connect taht to your TV.

Bingo. ur set. Then in Final cut go to View, external video, Apple Full Screen (or something like that)

Apple has an ADC to DVI adapter. i'm sure you could find others as well.
