hey there,

i've made subclips of my video source file and organzized them into bins/folders. i also have sound files and would like to sync and attach them with the video - what is the best way to do this?

using fcp 4.5hd, osx 10.3.9...

thanks!

You need the audio files embedded into the video files? Load both into an empty Timeline, sync them up, export it.

You can also do this inside QT Pro's Player, too. But it won't allow sync'ing the up as easily as in FCP.

The way I do is this.

1. Have your video clip on Timeline, say, video 1.

2. Put your audio clip(s) on Audio 1(and 2, etc.). Activate the audio waveform so you can see it. You may need to enlarge the Timeline Track to see the waveform better.

3. Put a marker on the part of your video clip where the "clap" happens. Just mark on the Timeline instead of on the actual video clip.

4. Select the audio clip(s) and put a marker where you see the abvious clipping happens.

5. Click and hold on the MARKER ON the AUDIO CLIP (you should really click on where the marker is), then, drag the audio clip(s) to the marker that you put for the video. The two makers should snap to each other, now. Of course the snapping (shortcut 'n') has to be on.

6. Check how good the synching is. Then, select the video clip and the audio clip(s), which is/are now placed right below the video clip. "Link them" by hitting "APPLE + L." You will see a line appears right under the name of the audio clip in the audio clip(s).

Now your video and audio are synched and will stay together for good unless you unlink them by hitting Apple + L again.

7. Click and drag the synched clip from the Timeline and drop it in the Browser window.

Now you can just treat it like normal "captured as synched" clips.

PS. It sounds a lot complicated than what it is. Sorry for my long explanation, but it really takes no time to do it.
