Connecting computers

I have one editing program on one computer, and another on my laptop.
How would I easily transfer the files to the other computer?

I've seen people somehow drag the program to the other computer as if it were one. Can I do that, and how?

You keep all project files together on an external hard drive, allowing you to share between computers. Or copy the folder with all project data between computers, but the dedicated hard drive is better. I have no idea what drag the program to another computer could mean.

Do to licensing, little dll files missing, and general configuration during install it is nearly impossible to simply copy a program from computer to another. It would be best to install it from the original disk. That being said, you can use a crossover network cable to plug the 2 computers into each other. You can then share files over a home network you create and copy and past files form one shared drive to another.

Exactly -- if you have the same software on both machines, your only challenge will be to set up a directory structure that makes sense. Depending on what you are using, projects can often get saved in "My Documents" on a PC, clips on your video raid, and graphics somewhere else.
I have not tried to change the default directory tree on my machines -- I've just learned where everything is and it is not a big deal to just drag copies of the small stuff into a separate folder on my video raid when I am moving projects. That's an un-elegant way of dong it, but it doesn't take long. I then just drag and drop over a simple home network...I've got four machines and I've never had a prob. It also makes life vastly easier if you need to re-visit a project a year or two in the future.

USB is good to transfer but you can also do some of the networking with a router to get access of each document, files to each computer, It will not also create problems like dynamic link library ect.
